Sublimation with your Canon laser printer
Turn your compatible Canon laser printer into a toner-based sublimation printing system with Ghost Sublime Toner. The Sublimation Toner Canon 075 system offers an easy toner-based solution for creating sublimation transfers with compatible Canon laser printers. The Ghost Sublime Cyan Toner LBP646 / 075 is part of our CMYK Sublimation Toner System for compatible Canon 075 series printers. Together with Sublime Magenta, Yellow and Black, it enables full-color sublimation transfers onto suitable light-colored polyester-based materials and sublimation-coated surfaces.
Unlike traditional ink-based sublimation systems, Ghost Sublime uses a specially developed sublimation toner powder instead of liquid ink. Simply print your design onto standard copy paper and transfer it to the desired surface using a suitable heat press.
Sublimation printing on standard copy paper
One of the major advantages of Ghost Sublime Toner is that you do not need expensive specialist sublimation paper for printing your designs. You can print directly onto regular copy paper, helping to keep running costs low while making the entire sublimation workflow simple and convenient. After printing, the design is transferred from the paper into the polyester-based or sublimation-coated surface using heat and pressure.
Sublimation Toner instead of liquid sublimation ink
Ghost Sublime uses toner powder rather than liquid sublimation ink. This means the toner cannot dry out during longer periods of inactivity, making the system particularly practical if you do not use your sublimation printer every day. The toner-based technology also provides a high print yield, making Ghost Sublime suitable for individual products, personalized projects, prototypes, small production runs and regular sublimation work.
Switch between Sublime, Color and White Toner
Another advantage of the Ghost toner system is its flexibility. Ghost Sublime cartridges can be exchanged for regular Color Toner or Ghost White Toner whenever required. Each toner cartridge operates as a closed cartridge system, so when the cartridges are changed correctly and stored properly while not in use, the different toner types can be exchanged without a complicated cleaning or conversion process and without toner residues from one cartridge being left behind during a proper cartridge change.
This allows you to use the same compatible Canon printer for different applications: Sublime Toner for sublimation, Color Toner for conventional color printing and Ghost White Toner for white and transfer printing.
Virtually no noticeable transfer layer
Sublimation differs from conventional transfer processes because the design does not remain as an additional layer on top of the material. During the heat-transfer process, the sublimation dyes are transferred into the suitable polyester-based surface.
The result is particularly attractive for textiles because the transferred design has virtually no noticeable feel or additional transfer layer. The original feel of the fabric is largely maintained, making sublimation especially suitable for apparel and other applications where a soft and natural finish is important.
What materials can be used for sublimation?
Ghost Sublime Toner works best with light-colored polyester-based materials and sublimation-coated surfaces. Typical applications include polyester T-shirts and apparel, bags and textile accessories, sublimation-coated mugs, promotional products, personalized gifts and many other products prepared specifically for sublimation.
For textiles, a higher polyester content will generally provide stronger and more vibrant sublimation results. Sublimation is therefore not a universal transfer method for every surface: the material must contain suitable polyester or have a compatible sublimation coating.
CMYK Sublimation Toner – not White Toner
Ghost Sublime is a CMYK sublimation process. Full-color sublimation requires Sublime Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black. Ghost White Toner cannot be used for sublimation and cannot create a white underbase for Sublime prints.
Ghost White Toner is based on a different toner powder formulation and is designed for use with our suitable transfer media. This gives White Toner different advantages: it enables white designs and full-color designs with a white base on dark materials and, together with the correct transfer media and a suitable heat press, can be used on a much wider variety of materials and surfaces.
If your project requires white printing, dark substrates or greater material flexibility, take a look at our White Toner LBP646 / 075.
Sublime Toner or White Toner – which system is right for you?
Ghost Sublime Toner is the right choice when you want a virtually haptic-free transfer onto suitable light-colored polyester-based or sublimation-coated surfaces. You benefit from printing on standard copy paper, toner that cannot dry out and a simple CMYK sublimation workflow.
Ghost White Toner is the better choice when you want to print white, work with dark substrates or transfer designs onto a wider variety of suitable materials. White Toner requires the appropriate Ghost transfer media, but gives you significantly more flexibility when it comes to different surfaces.
Both systems can be used in the same compatible printer by exchanging the respective toner cartridges depending on the application.
Transfer settings and color reproduction
The correct sublimation settings depend on the material or product being used. Temperature, pressing time and pressure must therefore be adjusted to the individual surface. We recommend testing the selected settings and material before starting larger production runs.
Please also note that the final color reproduction after sublimation can differ from the original print and from the colors displayed on your screen. The final result can be influenced by the colors contained in the artwork, the substrate, polyester content, surface coating and the selected transfer parameters.
